The Discovery Science Academy is an exciting new partnership among the award winning science museum, the Discovery Cube, the Diocese of Orange Catholic Schools, and the University of Notre Dame Center for STEM Education. The collaboration, called the Discovery Science Academy, provides NGSS aligned units and professional development for elementary and middle school science teachers. The curriculum engages students in three-dimensional learning focused on core science ideas, crosscutting concepts, and scientific practices.

Upon completion of each PD session, teachers will receive a comprehensive science kit that will allow them to teach the focus unit within their classrooms. Each class will also have the opportunity of attending a full day field trip to the Discovery Cube. The Center for STEM Education will provide the program evaluation in an effort to think about the collaboration's scalability to other Catholic schools around the nation.
